Scottish bollocks

Further to the Scottish Parliament’s proposals to increase the price of alcohol to a minimum price per unit the Scottish Whisky Association has commented:

Scotch Whisky would be hit at home also. In a challenging market, an additional 90p a bottle on
today’s typical price will do nothing to support the communities that rely on the industry.

Excuse me, but if you’re buying a bottle of decent Scotch at about £11 a bottle then 90p doesn’t seem much of a hike in the price of a wee dram from time to time.

However, if it does seem like an increase that’s going to stop you buying it then you’re obviously spending too much of your disposable income on Scotch if you can’t absorb an extra 90 fucking pence.

Instead, you should really start asking yourself some searching questions such as, ‘Am I an alcoholic?’

  1. £11 quid doesn’t buy anything that could remotely be called a ‘decent Scotch’.

    And no, I’m not. I’m a collector.

  2. OK…branded Scotch then!
I took the £11 price from the Tesco online shopping site – Teachers actually.
I know you drink single malts, so a price rise per unit on some of that stuff is a drop in the ocean.
