Not many people know this, but I’m a boxing fan.
I still think that amongst all the hype it’s a matter of one man pitched against another, which is a rare and somehow pure thing in sport – plus you can see two blokes knock seven shades of shit out of each other and it also annoys the same cunts who dislike fox-hunting and patio heaters.
I’m also a huge David Haye fan – always have been.
So, I’m more than a little stoked at the prospect of tonight’s fight when he takes on the Russian giant Nikolay Valuev.
Giant isn’t too much of an exaggeration either.
Haye’s no midget at 6’3″ and nearly 16 stone, but Valuev has a 9″ and 7 stone advantage.
He is, to put it frankly, a big fucker:
In fact, I’m sure he used to be one of the fighters in Mortal Kombat…
Haye puts it even better:
“He is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I have watched Lord of the Rings and films with strange looking people, but for a human being to look like he does is pretty shocking.“
Haye reckons he can win, if he keeps moving, darts in and out and gets in some good body shots but I’m not so sure. Valuev has only lost one of his 51 fights (which must have been when he was up against King fucking Kong) with 34 KOs and although Haye is, I believe, the best heavyweight boxer this country has ever produced, it’s a tall order. I can’t see the result going Haye’s way – even with his record of 23 fights with one loss and 21 KOs.
I hope I’m wrong.

I love the way that Haye has been winding him up and insulting him for the past few weeks. Not exactly what I would be doing before I jumped into the ring with a monster who already wanted to beat me to a pulp before opening my mouth.
