Out go the lights.
We’ve just had a power cut!
Very unusual occurrence here.
In our street it was just a quick off then on. I don’t think it lasted even a full second.
In the next street, however, the lights stayed off for a good half hour.

The town’s brass band has just been down our street playing Christmas carols and tunes.
I don’t know how long it will be before some arsehole decides that they need a ‘risk assessment’ to do it or that they’re breaking some sort of law against playing music that isn’t ‘interfaith based’.
But, until then, I shall continue [...]

So, the latest financial scandal to hit the fan is the alleged embezzlement of $50 billion by Bernard Madoff.
Apparently, according to the BBC News site story:
Somehow, in bad times as well as good, he was able to pay out 10% or more every year. “It’s a proprietary strategy. I can’t go into it in great [...]

The story goes on to say:
Last year more [...]

Further to my last post, the Mail actually did a better job of reporting the latest story that house prices would fall further next year than the BBC on their news site:
House prices to fall a further 15% by end of next year, warns Barclays boss
Which is a far more accurate representation of what was [...]

Jeezus…the BBC news site is becoming almost as bad as the Daily Mail when it comes to alarmist house price headlines.
UK house prices ‘to fall by 30%’
That sounds pretty horrendous but when you read the story below it’s not quite as bad as they’d have you believe.
John Varley, group chief executive of Barclays, painted a [...]
